Today we are going to be discussing the Rise and Decline of the United States, and how to move forward in a declining empire with Alfred McCoy.
Alfred McCoy is a Professor of History at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.  He earned his Ph.D. in Southeast Asian history at Yale.  He is an award-winning author of several books including the classic book, The Politics of Heroin in Southeast Asia.
In 2012, the Yale Graduate School Alumni association awarded McCoy with the Wilbur Cross Medal which is presented to a small number of outstanding alumni to recognize distinguished achievements in scholarship, teaching, academic administration, and public service.  That same year the University of Wisconsin-Madison awarded McCoy the Hilldale Award for Arts & Humanities.
His articles have appeared in The Nation, TomDispatch, and The Guardian.
